A city street light appears to have fallen into path of traffic in Midtown Thursday. The pole with street signs and a traffic signal attached came down on E 36th St and Second Ave sometime before 11 Am. “How did this not hit anything or anyone?” asked Twitter user Nick Kaplan, who posted a photo of toppled pole just a few feet from the entrance to Queens Midtown Tunnel. It is also a short distance from United Nations, which was holding its General Assembly this week, causing major traffic snarls. Traffic Enforcement Agents were directing cars away from downed pole. The city Department of Transportation was investigating what caused pole to come down.
