Three waterfront homes have been destroyed and 2 others damaged after a blaze broke out on Noosa’s North Shore. Fire crews rushed to Noosa River Drive on Saturday afternoon, battling to contain fire as strong winds fuelled the flames. Emergency services were unable to salvage three homes.
Smoke could be seen billowing from a number of waterfront properties. Fire is now under control and a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman told there were no patients treated as a result. It isn’t yet known what caused the fire. Station Officer Brenden Riches told strong winds may have contributed to the force of the fire. ‘There were strong winds today which fanned the flames into other houses, unfortunately it did take us some time to get here because it is a remote location and we did have some issues with water supply. My heart goes out to the people who have lost their homes today’ he said.
