British police investigating Harvey Weinstein are now looking at two further allegations of sexual assault. Although the most recent allegations were made to police in November, they have only now been made public. It brings total number of women who have reported Weinstein to British police over alleged sexual assault to 9. Of the most recent, one is alleged to have taken place in Westminster in 2011 while other was outside of the jurisdiction of UK and will be passed on to the relevant force. A spokeswoman for force told today ‘On November 13 an allegation was received that the man sexually assaulted a woman (Victim 9) in Westminster in 2011 and outside the jurisdiction of the UK in 2010. The second allegation will be passed to the relevant police force in due course.’
It comes on same day Kill Bill star Uma Thurman alleged former Miramax founder assaulted her in a London hotel room around the release of Pulp Fiction. She tells that the most aggressive encounter, which took place at London’s Savoy Hotel some time between 94′ and 2002, felt like ‘a bat to the head’. Responding to a request for comment on Thurman allegation, Weinstein’s representatives issued a number of photographs of the actress and movie mogul together that ‘demostrate the strong relationship’ they had. ‘We wish the New York Times would have published them’ they said.
The statement said ‘Mr Weinstein acknowledges making an awkward pass 25 years ago at Ms Thurman in England after misreading her signals, after a flirtatious exchange in Paris, for which he immediately apologised and deeply regrets. However, her claims about being physically assaulted are untrue. And this is the first time we have heard those details. There was no physical contact during Mr Weinstein’s awkward pass and Mr Weinstein is saddened and puzzled as to why Ms Thurman, someone he considers a colleague and a friend, waited 25 years to make these allegations public, noting that he and Ms Thurman have shared a very close and mutually beneficial working relationship where they have made several very successful film projects together. This is the first time we are hearing that she considered Mr Weinstein an enemy and the pictures of their history tell a completely different story.’
