A Mississippi teen will appear in court next week after fatally shooting his 6 years old brother as child played video games. Albert Deonte Craft III 16 years old told cops he pointed a 38 caliber handgun at Zaylan Sparkman on Friday to scare him. Craft tells he pulled the trigger, but the gun did not fire. He pulled trigger again and child was struck in the stomach. Zaylan was taken to Memorial Hospital in critical condition but later passed away. Craft illegally came into possession of handgun, according to Gulfport police Chief Leonard Papania. Teen has been charged with manslaughter. His preliminary hearing before a Justice Court judge will take place Wednesday. Zaylan was slated to start first grade this week. A walk to honor the child is set to be held Friday in Gulfport. “She lost two children, not just one” Jantail Thomas, who is helping to organize the tribute said, referring to their mother. Thomas is hoping to increase awareness to gun violence. She recalled a 5 years old child, Janaya Thompson, who had been killed 3 years ago. “Children don’t know what they’re doing with guns. They just see a gun and think they’re going to shoot it. They don’t know the outcome of a gun until it’s too late” she said. The walk in Gulfport is scheduled to begin at 6 Pm on Friday. Zaylan’s funeral will take place the following day at Olivet Baptist Church.
