The first cast image for Fantastic Beasts 2 has been released, showing Jude Law in the role of  young Albus Dumbledore.The highly-anticipated sequel which will follow on from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them which hit cinemas last Christmas will be the first in  five-film series to introduce iconic Harry Potter character Albus Dumbledore as a young man.Law takes on the role of the famous wizard which has previously been portrayed by Michael Gambon and the late Richard Harris in the original Harry Potter movies.The second of five adventures penned by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has been christened Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and will be released on 16 November 2018.The sequel’s storyline, according to the studio, picks up where the original left off, with Paris circa 1927 as the backdrop.Following on from the end of the first film, it will see the Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald [Johnny Depp] escaping from the Magical Congress of United States of America [or, the MACUSA].Now, he is gathering followers to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings or muggles.

In order to stop him and his plans, a young Albus Dumbledore enlists help of Magizoologist Newt Scamander [Eddie Redmayne, returning from Fantastic Beasts 1] who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead.The story sees Redmayne and Depp reprising their respective roles alongside a number of other returning cast such as Katherine Waterston as Auror Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie and Dan Fogler as Jacob Fowalski.Ezra Miller is back as Credence, Zoe Kravitz will take on the role of Leta Lestrange and Callum Turner will play Newt’s brother Theseus Scamander.David Yates, who helmed four of  eight Harry Potter films and returned to direct the first Fantastic Beasts adaptation, is set to return to the director’s seat for the next instalment with Rowling penning the script for the story.The magical franchise takes place years before Harry Potter is born or embarks on his adventures at Hogwarts and even before the rise of Lord Voldemort.It will continue to follow Newt, who travels  world protecting endangered magical creatures and documenting them.The adventures are set in the same universe that Rowling has created and will have numerous direct links to the world seen in original Harry Potter movie series.Principal photography commenced on the sequel on  outskirts of London in July.The movie, which is being shot at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, the sound stage the eight Harry Potter films were made.The sequel comes after the original took in $814 million-plus in international totals at  box office last autumn.
