Police have arrested at least 8 people after an America tourist was beaten to death in a bar brawl on a Greek island. Bakari Henderson, a 22 years old recent graduate from Arizona University, died early Friday outside Bar Code in Laganas, an area on island of Zakynthos popular for tourists. Primary suspects in the violent attack include a 34 years old Greek bartender and a 32 years old British bartender, who are now facing murder charges. Police on Saturday announced they would arrested another six Serbian tourists they suspect in the fatal battery after viewing CCTV footage of the fight. Henderson was reportedly surrounded by 10 people during the brutal brawl and died from serious head injuries.
Police have yet to reveal a motive in attack, but told the news station the beating involved 2 groups of people, including both bar staff and those hanging around the facility. Mayor of Zakynthos Pavlos Kolokotsas told both parties had been drinking heavily and that an investigation into the incident is ongoing. University of Arizona President Robert C Robbins offered his condolences to Henderson’s loved ones. “Our hearts and prayers are with his friends and family. I can only imagine the deep sense of loss they must be feeling at his untimely death. It is always a tragedy when a young life ends before it has really yet to being” he said in a statement. Henderson studied business administration and sports management and graduated from university in May. His family told he was in Greece working on a photo shoot to launch his fashion line, according to a statement obtained by the Austin Statesman. “Bakari loved spending time with family and friends, traveling and meeting new people. He was big thinker and enjoyed coming up with new business ventures” they said.
