San Juan neighborhood made famous by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” music video has been destroyed after Hurricane Maria swept through Puerto Rico. La Perla, known for its brightly colored beachside homes, was decimated after Category 4 storm made landfall. The neighborhood, which was once known for drugs and crime before being revitalized, is now a pile of rubble after hurricane. Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee filmed the music video for “Despacito” in La Perla, a video which has garnered more than 3,7 billion views on YouTube since its release in January.

“It’s horrible what’s happening right now on the island. It’s very sad to read the messages from my family. There is a lot of work to do” Fonsi wrote on Instagram Wednesday. An estimated 3,4 million residents are in darkness after Maria wiped out power to island. San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz estimated that it would take 4 to 6 months to fully restore electricity. “The San Juan that we knew yesterday is no longer there” Cruz said Thursday morning.
