The January death of a baby boy in Staten Island whose mother and grandmother brought him into hospital more than a day after he would already died has been deemed a homicide. Little Dameen Mohammed was just 7 months old and severely dehydrated and malnourished when his mother Anwar Jawad 25 years old carried him into Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn on January 7. He weighed only 8 pounds, about 10 pounds below the average weight for a baby that age. Dameen’s death was reclassified as a murder on Thursday. Authorities have not made any arrests and continue to investigate how child died. Jawad 25 years old told police that Dameen looked sick at her home on Elie Ct in New Springville. But instead of taking the child to hospital, she drove him over Verrazano Bridge and into Bensonhurst to seek her mother’s advice. Dameen, who had bruising on his back, had been dead for more than 24 hours when the 2 women brought him to Lutheran Medical Center.
